Papillon are affectionate, intelligent, and highly adaptable dogs that thrive on being part of family life. Their small size makes them ideal for homes with limited space, yet they are energetic enough to enjoy playtime, walks, and interactive activities with children and adults alike. With their loyal nature, low-shedding silky coat, and eagerness to please, Papillons form strong bonds with their families and fit beautifully into loving households.

Papillon do not require excessive grooming compared to many long-haired breeds. Their fine, silky coat grows slowly and does not need regular clipping or trimming — a gentle brush once a week is usually enough to keep their coat tangle-free, healthy, and looking beautiful. Their fur is very slow growing, which means there is generally far less need for frequent professional grooming appointments compared to other coated breeds. Most owners can comfortably maintain their Papillon’s coat at home with simple, regular brushing and occasional bathing.

Papillon are generally friendly and sociable, and when properly introduced and socialised from a young age, they usually get along very well with other dogs and even cats. Their confident yet gentle nature helps them adapt easily in multi-pet households, especially when positive interactions and clear boundaries are established early on.

Papillons may be small in size, but they are an active and energetic breed that benefits from daily exercise. A couple of short walks each day combined with playtime and mental stimulation are usually enough to keep them happy, healthy, and well-balanced.

Papillon puppies are highly intelligent and eager to please, which makes them generally very easy to train. They respond exceptionally well to positive reinforcement, consistency, and early socialisation, often excelling in obedience and learning new commands quickly.
